Oya Manda!

Below: Dune Sea Garrison, 501st Legion, plus custom Mandalorian armour by Ray Ramirez.

The Arizona-based Dune Sea Garrison of the 501st Legion has some of the finest costumes in the stormtrooper world. But they don't just do stormies - they do all kinds of superb Star Wars costuming, including the most lovable psychopathic mercenaries in the galaxy - Mandalorians! I had the privilege of meeting the Mando'ade of the Dune Sea Garrison, and here are some of the brilliant sets of armour seen at CELEBRATION IV in Los Angeles in May 2007.

With thanks to the DSG's XO, Lance Dworshak, aka TK-2035, whose pics these are - so don't mess with his copyright. Admire and aspire...ain't they the best? Some of the suits of beskar'gam are hammered metal. An enormous amount of work has gone into making the suits not only uber-cool in appearance but also practical - you can really move in this stuff! Ori'kandosii!

Pic 1: Mando gals are as tough as the men - don't mess with the ladies, okay? L-R: Joanne, Jen and Courtney.

Pic 2: Okay, so you didn't listen, and now you've made the guys really mad. L-R: Lance, Robert (in spendid Berserker rig) and Scott.

Behold the full variety of Mando beskar'gam. L-R: Courtney, James, Bill and Reed.

Now, my good buddy Ray Ramirez, who's given me such great technical support on Verps, armour and sniper ops, unveiled this stunning suit of beskar'gam at Celebration IV too. Ray is costumed as the Mandalorian sniper character named after him in BLOODLINES -Ram Zerimar. Note the neck plate. Hey, everyone learned from Jango's sorry end - do your worst, Mace Windu! This is beskar!
